Britain by Interrail: A Two-Week Trip
An adventurous itinerary for anyone wanting to make the most of a one-country Interrail pass for Britain (or, for that matter, a Britrail pass). The starting point can be anywhere on the continent. We've chosen Amsterdam. That is best ticketed with a regular point-to-point ticket, which you can buy on All Aboard. Then enjoy two weeks roaming the rails of Britain.
Our British tour takes in fine cathedral cities like Durham, Lincoln and Chester. There are stops in the hills, like Appleby in the Pennines and Aviemore in the Cairngorms. We stop off in smaller communities like Axminster and Arundel.
We showcase fine rail routes, such as the celebrated Settle & Carlisle line, the Highland Main Line from Inverness down to Perth, the Tyne Valley route that runs east from Carlisle and the beautiful Heart of Wales railway from Shrewsbury to Llanelli.
Enjoy this rail extravaganza. It's a longish route, but never too hurried. You can always make it even more leisurely by making some stops two nights rather than just a single night.
